Stick Bug (Neohirasea maerens)
This is not particularly fussy specie towards humidity.
The spines the not sharp enaph to poke thru skin
nor cause any pain unless handled roughly. They
tend to release a smell when disturbed, that smells
like peanut butter, minty, or BBQ. When they feel
danger, this species tends to just run very fast.
Unlike Extatosoma tiaratum, they tend to just run
off your hand, so care should be taken when handling
full grown adults.
Nymphs must not be offered new Bramble leafs,
the ones that are still with "hairs".
The new leafs contain some kind of chemical that
will kill a nymph but is harmless to L3 nymph and
up which seem to have an immunity by then.
Females: get 9 cm long.
Males: get 7-8 cm long.
Diet: Bramble,
Oak, Pyracantha.
Ova.
